California will Mandate the COVID-19 Vaccine for all Scholars
On October 1, 2021 Governor Newsom announced a statewide vaccine mandate for public and private school students ages 12 and older once the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) fully approves the vaccine for students 12 years and older. The COVID-19 vaccine is already approved for students 16 years
or older.
While we currently do not know the date that the mandate will take effect, we do know that many other charter school systems have already mandated vaccines, as has LAUSD for their students. We are continuing to monitor the state’s policy guidance and we will keep you informed on our approach to any mandate for Alliance scholars.
In the meantime, it is critical that Alliance scholars get vaccinated in order to increase safety at our schools and to reduce the amount of time scholars have to quarantine and be away from the classroom. Scholar vaccination is one of our most effective tools to keep our schools open, healthy, and safe for our scholars and staff. We also know that those who are unvaccinated are most at risk for contracting and spreading COVID-19, and experiencing the worst symptoms and potential complications. If you haven’t already, please submit your scholar’s vaccination record to the Main Office.
In order to help continue our learning about the COVID-19 vaccines, we will be hosting several town halls for Alliance families to hear from you and also share the latest information about the COVID-19 vaccines. The Family Town Halls will be held on the below dates and the Zoom links will be sent in advance via Parent Square:

- Thursday, November 4, in English at 6:00 pm
- Tuesday, November 9, in Spanish at 6:00 pm
