Ms. Meza Awarded Alliance Counselor of the Year

For 10 years, Ms. Meza has worked at Stern MASS supporting the academic and socio-emotional growth of our Titans. She is our 9th grade counselor, counselor liaison with East Los Angeles College, supports Advisory planning, facilitates parenting classes, and much more. Thank you, Ms. Meza, and congratulations!

Manuel A. Recognized as National Hispanic Scholar

Congratulations to Manuel A. for being recognized as a National Hispanic Scholar based on his PSAT/NMSQT taken last October 2016. Manuel's PSAT score was among the top 2.5% Hispanic and Latino test takers in our region. This is a free recognition from the College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program. Manuel's achievement will be recognized in top colleges and universities.

AP Teachers Recognized by Alliance College-Ready Public Schools

At the beginning of the school year, 5 Stern MASS teachers were recognized for their achievements on their students' Advanced Placement (AP) 2017 results in comparison to their Alliance teacher colleagues. Ms. Quezada obtained the highest pass rate in AP European History. Ms. Law had 100% of her students achieve a qualifying score on the AP Calculus BC exam. Mrs. Banda surpassed the national average pass rate on AP Spanish Language with 89% of her students passing. Mr. Lopez had the highest pass rate within the Alliance for AP English Literature. Mrs. Ko also had the highest pass rate within the Alliance for AP Environmental Science. Congratulations!

222 Titans Earned Honor Roll Recognition for Spring 2017

This week, 222 Titans in grades 10-12 were recognized for outstanding scholastic achievement based on their Spring 2017 grades. Students were applauded during cohort Advisory Town Halls and received a certificate and Honor Roll pin. There were 94 Titans recognized with Principal's Honor Roll (3.0-3.49 gpa), 35 Titans with Cum Laude Honors (3.5-3.74 gpa), 24 Titans with Magna Cum Laude Honors (3.75-3.99 gpa), and 69 Titans with Summa Cum Laude Honors (4.0+ gpa). Congratulations to all of our Titan scholars!

Did You See the Solar Eclipse?

Titans got to experience the solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st. Dr. Halverson and the Engineering Club set up telescopes on the roof during nutrition so students could safety view the eclipse on a piece of paper. STEM classes also create view finders as another way to view this rare experience.
